Deadline
None: Treasury must hold any unclaimed property in perpetuity for the rightful owner or their heirs.
How to claim
Search Treasury's database, generate a claim form, and upload it with the supporting documents the form asks for (some originals must be mailed). What's required depends on who is claiming, the claim value and the type of property.
Finders
Anyone paid to locate or help recover unclaimed property for you must hold a certificate of registration from the Treasurer (Fiscal Code Sections 1301.11a and 1301.11b, effective January 6, 2015). Certificates are valid for two years.
